Coming Soon to this blog:

A brand spanking new, one off TV show brought to you by geography pupils in Year 9 at Knutsford Academy

This news is so exclusive that the show does not yet have a title, but we did hear this quote from an excited Mr Knott:

"It's going to be great i've heard. Lots of information about earthquake proof bulidings and general advise about how to survive an earthqaake, what you need and some great prizes and interviews. I'm looking forward to the exclusive interview with Alex Mcleish about survival (in the premiership). I just hope that James Davis is featured as much as possible as he really is a top geography geek."

The show is due to be aired on Friday 25th May and will be around 5 minutes long so keep in touch with this blog to see watch this exceptional documentary

Urban Regeneration

An excellent video on urban regeneration featuring Langworthy in Salford. It is not as 'ghetto' as some videos on Langworthy, with no door booting or attacking buildings with television pylons but it is good.

Year 9 Tourism Work Wednesday 7th

Task:

In U10 on a PC, produce a powerpoint presentation on an 'extreme holiday'. An extreme holiday involves going to places that are exciting and often even dangerous; places where people do not often go such as the Sahara or Antarctica.
Try and find travel and accommodation, and describe the scenery and wildlife. Plan some adventurous activities. This work can be done in pairs.
See you all on Friday!

Year 11 Work- Wednesday 23rd November

Hi year 11,

Guess what...controlled assessment is over! ...today you are going to start the year 11 course. I will give exercise books out on Friday.
The topic is Tourism and today is a very straight forward task:
-On Microsoft Word
-Produce a definition of the word 'tourism'
-Research and produce a fact-file for 3 different types of tourist area's
-Include as many facts and figures as possible
-Please locate each area
-Explain why each area is a popular tourist destination

e.g. you could do a city (Paris?) and a beach (Cornwall?) or a Mountain area (Alps skiing?) for different areas. Please print off (not save in your CA folder!) so it can be stuck in your nice new book on Friday

Year 9 Work- Wednesday 23rd November

Hi Year 9 Geographers,

You can have today (Wednesday) and Friday period 5 to complete your piece of of work planning a holiday around France

You need to get to the real detail now: start planning activities and giving detailed information on the local area and spend a little less time on planning (cost, travel etc)

Remember that each person in the pair will get the same mark, so plan who does what effectively

Maybe do a mind-map at the start to plan how the work will get done?

see you all on Friday... Mr Atkinson
